Maintaining the Classic Tradition
Art Spectrum are Australia's most respected oil paints because they conform to the classic tradition. To make a permanent artists' paint, it is of the utmost importance to not only have lightfast pigments and pure linseed oil (safflower oil in whites) but to ensure they are thoroughly milled as well. All colours are triple-milled to ensure that every pigment particle is completely coated with the vehicle, and evenly dispersed. This results in a stable paint film which has even surface tensions. Genuine oil colours characteristically smell of pure and natural vegetable oils.
All our beautiful oil colours are permanent
Improved permanency information and new pigments have enabled us to replace the toxic and fugitive colours with non-toxic and cleaner colours of superior lightfastness. Ongoing research and development is dedicated to maintaining or improving the permanency, safety and performance of our colours.
Superior pigment-concentrated colours
Pigments are chosen for purity and clarity. Art Spectrum oil colours give lasting brilliance and luminosity to paintings. The finest pigments are used in the maximum working strength to impart the best colour quality. It is not Art Spectrum's policy to substitute pure pigments with blanc fixe (a heavy filler) to simulate quality by artificially increasing the weight of oil paints.

Meeting artists' needs - popular sizes for larger works
All colours are available in 40 ml and 150 ml tubes and 500 ml tins.* (Art Spectrum pioneered the extra large 150 ml tubes of genuine artists' quality oil colours). Whites available also in 1 litre and 4 litre tins.

Art Prism Oil Colours (AP)
Made by the Australian artists’ colourmen Art Spectrum, Art Prism oils offer artists a high quality, yet straightforward and uncomplicated range of colours at a uniformly low price.
Manufactured on a triple mill in the same classic process as Art Spectrum Professional Quality Artists' Oils, Art Prism colours do not, however, contain the more expensive traditional pigments. These are substituted by modern alternatives with similar lightfastness, but at a lower cost. The pigment strength and intensity is lower than Art Spectrum Professional Quality Artists' Oils, however our testing has led us to believe that Art Prism colours contain more pigment than any other ‘one price’ oil paint on the market.
Permanence & Performance
Art Prism colours have been carefully formulated to provide permanence and performance – the smooth, buttery consistency making them ideal for achieving many painting styles and techniques; and the carefully balanced pigment strength providing for ease of colour mixing. Art Prism colours conform to the ASTM standard D4302-90 and are rated I and II for lightfastness.*
Colour Range
The 26 colours in the Art Prism range provide a balanced palette capable of producing almost unlimited clean colour mixes. They provide students, hobbyists and leisure artists with an ideal base from which they can later expand into the beauty and exciting possibilities offered by the full range of Art Spectrum Professional Quality Artists' Oils.

Naturally Art Prism oil colours are suitable for use with all Art Spectrum oil painting mediums, both traditional and the new Odourless Solvent and Reduced Odour Mediums.
