Colourfix Primer

Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primer

Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primer is a fine tooth, quick drying acrylic primer which bonds agressively to practically any clean, dry surface - all types of papers (300 gsm or heavier recommended), canvas, card, ply, plastic, glass, timber, ceramic and metal. Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primer can be applied with brushes, sponges, rollers etc. straight from the pot. 20 colours are available, including Natural (Clear)*. All colours can be intermixed, or tinted with Art Spectrum Inks or Gouache, to create new shades. The Clear Colourfix™ Primer allows the natural surface or underlying colours to remain visible, whilst providing extra tooth for more overlays. Use Clear and other Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primers for mixed media techniques and experimental art and craft works. It can even be used as an adhesive for collage. All colours are available in 250ml pots. Black, White and Clear are also available in 1 litre tubs. Colourfix Primer™ is a fine tooth surface for oil painting. Size the surface prior to applying Colourfix™ with a thin layer of acrylic medium or gesso.

*Supertooth Primer is also available, in Natural (Clear) only.

Colourfix Paper & Boards

Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Papers and boards are sheets of acid-free hot press watercolour paper screen printed with Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primer. They offer conservation quality and unbeatable versatility at an affordable price.

Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Paper

Printed on 300gsm hot press watercolour paper and with its 20 dense, lightfast colours and fine deep tooth, Colourfix™ is a superb substrate for acrylics, inks, silverpoint, oil pastels, gouache, watercolours and dry media such as soft pastels, charcoal and pencils. The natural toothy surface will hold multiple layers of pastel without the need for fixative, allowing the velvet bloom and vibrant colour of pastel to be preserved. Erasing is also easy with Colourfix™ - simply lift off excess pastel with clear adhesive tape, brush off with a dampened or dry brush, or use a pencil eraser. Alternatively, errors can be overpainted or areas touched up with the matching colour of Art Spectrum Colourfix™ Primer. The tough, toothy surface can be sanded, scrubbed, soaked and reworked over and over. Colourfix™ Papers are available in three sizes: 24 x 32cm, 50 x 70cm and 70 x 100cm (9 x 12”, 20 x 28” and 28 x 40”). Limited selection of colours in larger size paper.
